Snana Purnima in Odisha.


  • The Snana  yatra is a bathing festival  celebrated on the  purnima of the hindu month of  Jyeshtha.
  • It is Important festival of the Jagannath devotees.
  • This is the first occasion in the year as per the Hindu calendar.
  • The Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Goddes Subhadra, Sudarshna and Madanmohan, they are brought out from the temple to Snana Bedi.
  • There lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra are tekaing there Bath by 108 Vessels of Water, which is bring from SUNA KUA.
  • After the Bathing the God and Goddess fail illness and kept in a sick room to treatment by Raj Vaidya.
  • During this Period Known Anasara.
  • At That Time The Peoples devotees head to the Alarnath Mandira in Bramhagiri in the belief that Jagannath manifests as Alarnatha during this period.
  • The Gods are wear in Traditional Silk Saree color of Yellow, Green and Red.
